Need Help

Does anyone know about insurance coverage....I have mainecare and dont know what to do!!!!. if anyone can help please let me know.....

I'm not exactly sure but I did hear that some of the Surgeons at Eastern Maine Medical Center will except Mainecare. You have to work really close with your family Dr. and have to medically prove that having surgery would be the best option for you. I don't believe Dr. Toder excepts Mainecare and she's the only one who does LAP Band in this area. (I don't know which hospital your looking at). I would advise a trip to your pcp and have a serious discussion with him/her about helping you. -Deanna

I know someone in the Bath area who had gastric bypass and MaineCare paid for the entire surgery. She had to wait a year (or close to) for approval, but it did go through.

I do know that a lot of people in the support group for lap band in augusta with Maine Bariatric has maine care and they were accepted. I know your a ways away from augusta but it may be worth it.

I had open bypass Sept 26 , 06 thru Dr Clough at EMMC and maine Care paid for it. I only waited 3 weeks for an approval. I was told they did not pay for lap band but i was too big for lap anyway so i did not care. Pam
