Members of Dr. Cobean and Dr. Wolf
I have my first appointment with Dr. Wolf and staff. My question is about the packet we received a little while back. It had a portion that talked about payment. It stated that you have to pay them $500.00 upfront. Have any of you had to do this? and When is that due at the first visit?
Thanks
Linda
Hi Linda,
The $500 is for everyone and has to be paid 2 weeks preop surgery date. You can pay it many different ways. I split mine up on 2 credit and debit cards. So at this point you have a few months to save it up or apply for credit cards.
My surgery was 1/9/07 with renee wolff.

Linda,
I didn't have to pay anything upfront except for my 10 dollar co-pays. I have Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield through Maine Municiple. I don't know what insurance you have, but you may want to call the Bariatric Center and ask them about this 500 dollars. They may have you call Maine Med where their billing deptartment is. I don't know for sure, but I think the 500 dollars is for people that their insurance doesn't pay for all of the surgery. My insurance company did, except for my co-pays which I paid each time when I went to the Bariatric Center. I hope this helps.

The $500 is paid to Casco Bay for the Dr's services only, as a downpayment on their
services. There will be other bills from anesthesia, hospital etc. As far as I know every one pays this. This goes toward your deductible or what the ins doesn't pay for as far as the direct Dr's charge. If your ins pays it all, lucky you, you'll get part or all of it back. I have a Flex plan acct at work, that's how I am paying mine. They deduct so much out of your paycheck each week, to pay for whatever amt you chose to take out during that year.
My surgery is 2-27, I'm on the 2 wk pre-op/ Jan G
