I am needing my arms done. Eventually, abdomen and thighs. I have Medicare and Mainecare. I find it shameful that most plastic surgeon's won't take people with the insurance I have. I feel like I'm being treated like I'm "less than." I've talked with my insurance company and they have already told me that if they are provided with the correct information, my surgery would be approved. The surgery I am needing is not cosmetic. I am experiencing unpleasant things due to the excess skin, such as, rashes, chaffing etc. I'm tired of it. I just want to look and feel "normal." Can anyone steer me in the right direction to a plastic surgeon that treats all patients equal, despite their insurance coverage? peacefulheart

I havent had the lap band surgery yet, but a year ago I did have a breast reduction and I went through Dr. Schassberger and he is located right in Waterville. He is a good doctor and both my mother and I went through him. When you get the initial consult with the nurse to talk about why you want things, they will help steer you in the direction so your insurance will cover it. I think that I remember talking to them about what insurances they work with and I think they attempt to have all insurances cover surgeries, it is just a matter of how many hoops you need to jump through to have it covered. They really do push medically necessary surgeries, which yours does sound like it is. They are good people there, I would give them a call to see if they could field anymore questions for you. Best of luck
