Arthritis Pain

I had to stop taking my arthritis pills because of my surgery coming up Sept 26th. I am in so much pain and hurt and am stiff all over. I keep thinking o my God I will never be able to take anything !! I also have Fibromyalgia. The doc's keep telling me that when I get the weight off it will help. I keep seeing me as this skinny good looking women and so stiff and crippled up !! LOL I am exsagerating I hope. Anyone else have any experience with this??? Pam

Hi Pam, I'm new here and don't have any experience with the issue your talking about, but I did want to let you know that I will keep you in my prayers. Congratulations on your upcoming WLS! I think your Dr. is probably right. Losing weight will take some of the stress off your body and should at least reduce the pain you have. Keep the faith! Blessings, Yvonne

Dear Pam, I have arthritis too, and like you, off the pain pills/antiinflamatories except for tylenol. The pain was really bad for about 6 weeks, now it seems to be subsiding somewhat. I have a TENS unit for when the pain is localized in one or two areas in my back (no medication involved with that). I also have been walking as much as possible for my fibro, and while its painful to walk on many days, I decided that if I was going to hurt anyways, I might as well hurt for a good reason. I've seen a bit of improvement with that, too. I really think it will be easier once we get the weight off. Even if the arthritis doesnt go away, there should be a lessening of symptoms. I hope you start feeling better soon. Karen

Hi everyone, I also have fibromyalgia, it was really severe just before surgery. I had surgery on the 7th of September and it has improved tremendously. I know it sounds nuts because I haven't had a drastic weight loss. Th PA that came to check on me after surgery said symptoms of some things improve almost overnight. My BP med has been cut in half also. I have to remind myself that this surgery wasn't supposed to cure fibro but I am glad it seems to have improved. Best of luck to you all.

Maybe it shocks are systems in to being corrected who knows. My surgery is a week from tomorrow so we shall see. I am trying to stay positive ABOUT IT ALL.My 34 tr old daughter then is waiting for a date for her surgery. We were talking will be glad when all surgeries are OVER and start loosing weight and changing our lives for the better. Pam
