Hi Maine Folks, Looks like a kind of quiet board. Don't know why I didn't think to check in here before now. I live in Alabama (Tuscaloosa). This coming Friday, 9/15, my fiance and I are getting in the car and beginning our big road trip to Maine! We love road trips, and neither of us has ever been to Maine. We are ready for a break from the heat, and hope to steer clear of hurricanes while enjoying some time on the coast. I have been to New England several times, lived in Boston a couple of yrs, but never made it to Maine. We will be staying in Bar Harbor from Monday 9/18 to Thurs 9/21. Our wedding will take place on Cadillac Mountain at 6am on Wednesday, the 20th. We are so excited about the whole thing! Anybody with must-see tips on sights, hotels, B&Bs, restaurants, shops, etc, please chime in! Looking forward to spending some time in your beautiful state! Kathy

Hi Kathy: I just happened to check out the boards and noticed your message. I live in Maine. Actually I use to live 25 mins from Bar Harbor, now I live about 55 mins from Bar Harbor. Bar Harbor can be beautiful any time of the year, but very busy in the summer months, so I try to stay away from there, LOL too many people walking out in front of you as you are trying to get thru traffic in town. There are quite a few shops to walk thru and let's not forget to walk down close to the ocean. There is a Hotel/Inn right next to the ocean near the dock,I can't remember the name of it, sorry. Ships come in every so often, so thats kinda neat to see. You'll have to post pics of your trip... I am sure you will enjoy yourselves. I hope you have a wonderful wedding..and the weather cooperates. Best Wishes! Diane

Hey kathy, I also live in Maine and spent my honeymoon in Bar Harbor. My husband and myself really enjoyed Arcadia National park. Also just walking through the cozy little town. I'm a huge fan of people watching and there a benches set up along the side walks. They also have some great little places to eat. Last of all don't forget THE CAT you can travel over to Nova Scotia for different day trips and gamble along the way. Good luck and best wishes!!! Hope you enjoy Maine Jules
