Hi Jeannie
I too have Dr. Cobean. I started my process in January. I called Dr. Cobeans office to see what needed to be done. They told me have PCP call them and they would take care of everything. I received a packet in the mail probably a month later and my first appt. was scheduled for the end of March. I am now scheduled for surgery on Sept. 11th. I would have been able to have it in August but there was too much going on at work and vacations.
I really like Dr. Cobean and his entire staff. They have great lifetime follow up care. I know it feels like it takes forever but believe me the time has gone very fast.
I went today for my pre-op and I start the liquid diet on Monday.
Jeannie, make sure you have done your homework with your insurance company as to what they cover and what their require from you. If you haven't started documenting past weight loss attempts you should do so. There is very long questionnare Dr. Cobean has you fill out and that information is needed.
Best of luck to you in your journey and don't hesitate to contact me if you needed anything or just want to talk. I would also suggest calling DR. Cobean's office to make sure they have what they need from your PCP. They are very nice and will probably explain the process to you.
Take care,
Ronda
His office is very busy but I would call them and just check in. They are very good about answering questions. Make sure that you contact your insurance company and request them to send you in writting what you need to be approved for surgery. It will give you something to fight with if you are denied. Dr. Cobean's office is also great about notifing you of what needs to be done.
Call me anytime if you have these questions; I am always available either at home or at work. My office is very laid back so you can call anytime. Home 666-8376 or Work 373-3057.
