Topic: Anyone have United Healthcare through Medicaid?
Hello my MD friends!!
I have a fried *****ally wants/needs to have WLS. She has United Healthcare via Medicaid. Anyone know of or have used a surgeon in the DMV area??
Looks like maybe Johns Hopkins Bayview or Dr. Moe at GBMC?
Thanks so much for the info. I'll post on VA and DC boards as well.

Same from me. What are you doing eating breaded and fried? You really need to do the protein. If you don't, you're setting yourself up for problems in the way your body metabolizes the carbs and will sabotage yourself.

I'm going to St. Agnes for the surgery with Dr. Singh.
Originally I was to go to GBMC had attended the information session given by Dr. "Moe" this past Saturday but when I approached him after the lecture about the revision, he told me that since I had lost 31 pounds, I "could lose the weight by myself," that it was "behavioral and not related to my surgery" and that I "needed therapy." That was after he told the room full of prospective patients that they should "go down the street and eat a hamburger if they were losing too much weight prior to the surgery," and that "obesity was probably genetically coded."
So, with that said, I have the GI series scheduled for this coming Monday, orders for my pre-op blood work in my hand, and mentally preparing myself for two weeks of liquid diet before the surgery. One step at a time and focus on being able to shop the winter sales in the skinny department of Daffy's and Century 21 in NYC.
I have an online friend of many years in Cali who had her surgery this past summer and I was her cheering squad and support so she's there for me. It's great to know there are a few people locally to interact with and I thank you. I have been reticent of becoming closely involved with too many people and trying to avoid what I refer to as the angry militant pushing their ideas and surgeons as the end all and be all, and the BS that can consume these online forums. On the other hand, you are very correct in having others in my life who have had or are currently experiencing what I'm going through. I just need to weigh the pros and cons each step of the way and get the facts.
Again, thank you for responding and your willingness to come back around! I've got to scoot to work but will TTYL.

just a bunch of friends who have had WLS who get together on Fridays for lunch... at various locations in Baltimore... mostly NW Baltimore County or the Catonsville area...
it can be as few as two of us or as many as 4 or 5... it's very flexible and it's pretty much every friday... times and locations vary.
