Hello All,
To anyone who has had a conversion from lap band to VSG, can you tell me if I have to go through all the paperwork, psych evals, seminars, supervised weight loss and all of the other stuff all over again??? I was banded in Nov 2007 at 240 pounds with like a 5 pound weight loss over that period only to be 241 now. I have an appointment with Michael Peters at Chrias on 11/23/11 and an appointment with Averbach 12/9/11. I have been on phentermine since June and have no sucess. Any comments, advice, suggestions, or general feedback would be great.
Thanks All
So if you had any kind of plastic surgery related to the weight loss, please share your experience in MD or VA and the local prices.
Thank you
So that is to say for all who don't know me, hi! I'm Nikki. And my birthday is coming up!
S'anyway...I'd like to plan something in honor of the "14th anniversary of my 21st birthday" (Dec. 4, but whatever we'd do would be on the 3rd) with other post-ops in MD.
It wouldn't necessarily be in Baltimore, where I live. It WOULD however be DOING something (so not just going to a restaurant). I'm open to suggestions at this point.
I'm coordinating this whole thing through Evites, so if it sounds like something you'd be interested in, PM me your email address and I'll include you on the Evite!
Thanks all...I hope I get to celebrate my birthday with some of my OH friends!

get your "move" on.. Don't let nothing hold you back. Remember that when we chose this life altering change it was forever not just the moment.
The other day someone told me: Well sure you happy with your weight loss you had surgery and that is why you can keep it off!
That is total ignorance right there. This has been a really hard road. The weight melts off the first year no matter what you do. But after that reality sets in that your body adjusts and you are no longer in the highest malnutrition phase. Your weight will stop all slow down dramatically. Then if you do not work on keeping it off and exercising you weight will creep back on. I am 4 1/2 years post op and it has been really hard for me to keep the weight off for the past two years.
So please take from from me, even if you can not make it to a gym exercise at home. Zumba is the biggest thing now a days the pounds drop you burn a lot of calories/fat when dancing zumba. At first it is a bit hard but when you go and do it with your mind set that you are going to have fun you will love it.
Zumba is not for woman only so men if you can get on that too do it! I hope to become a Zumba instructor one day. I love Zumba!
Have a fantastic day and weekend all.

I am so glad you reached out for help. Let me tell one thing...... You are NOT alone. I go through the same thing and I am 4 1/2 years out. What I do to kick myself back on track is do the 5DPT to help me curb the carb craving. It helps me shed a few pounds and I lose what I have gained. I do this because I will not allow myself to get back to where I was pre-op.
I hope that you find an exercise partner. I used to live in MD but moving out here to WV really sucked. I could not even find a support group or set one. I have met so much unmotivated people in my life out here that it is quite depressing. lol
But what I do is be accountable to myself. I am not there to help you be accountable but you can post here and I will cheer you on and check up on you.
You can get back on track you CAN do this! If you want the 5DPT (5 day pouch test link) let me know and I will post it or you can google it.
Take care!

I had my surgery 2 years ago and was doing great until about 5 months ago. I have been eating bad foods and because of working long hours I have not been going to the gym. I just need a little inspiration or a kick in the butt to get back on track. I have gained about 13lbs in the past 3 months and was wondering if anyone out there is looking for a workout partner. I live in Silver Spring, MD and usually go to golds gym. if your interested let me know.
Also, has anyone else gone through this and if so how were you able to get back on track.
Thanks,
Wesley
