Actually it's cancelled. Not enough folks responded unfortunately. Might be a bad date for folks. Sorry! Forgot about this post.

Hi there -- and welcome to MD -- I am in Baltimore, so the docs I'm noting are here.  Since we have so many academic medical centers -- I'd suggest you look first at Johns Hopkins and University of Maryland Medical System if you are near Baltimore.  I don't know any DS patients, so I can't speak from experience.   Since there is such a large pool of surgical talent, you may also find good docs at GBMC (Towson) and Sinai (NW Baltimore).  All four of the hospitals I've mentioned are BCBS Centers of Excellence for Bariatric Surgery, as well.

Best of luck in your search!

Wow, I have not been on here for a very long time.  I have been really busy training for the Baltimore Half Marathon.  I DID IT!!! That is totally amazing to me.  I had my follow up appointment today and my doc told me he was very proud of me and wants the hospital to contact me for a story.  I told him about my company doing a story on my weightloss and the Baltimore Business Journal doing a story about the company being one of the healthiest in the state featuring me and he printed it out.  I just can't believe the way my life has changed so much in just a short period of time.  This was the best decision I ever made besided marrying my husband.  Just wanted to share these NSV's because I don't have alot of people that I share these with.

I may be moving to Maryland for a new job soon, and wouuld like some recommendations for aftercare docs.  I am almost 4 years out (2/25), and I would like some suggestions for a new bariatric friendly PCP, preferably someone who is familiar with the needs of a Duodenal Switch patient.

 Mark your calendars!

Bariatric Foodie is doing its 2012 Holiday Food Tasting:

Saturday, November 10, 2012
2 -4 p.m.
Christ Lutheran Church
701 S. Charles St.
Baltimore, MD 21230 (right across from the harbor)

So about this event. I write a blog called Bariatric Foodie (www.bariatricfoodie.com) that gives recipes and tips for eating after weight-loss surgery. Three years ago I started doing a holiday event where people could come and sample WLS-holiday dishes, protein shakes, party food, dessert, etc. and get the recipes.

This year I am doing it again! Except this year admission is absolutely FREE for each adult that brings their own WLS-friendly holiday dish to share (should be for about 6 - 8 people). I will also sample some of my holiday recipes, protein shakes, etc. If you don't want to bring a dish that is fine! Admission would be $10.

So mark your calendars and RSVP to [email protected]. YOU MUST REGISTER FOR THIS EVENT SO PLEASE EMAIL IF YOU'D LIKE TO COME!

Hope to see you there!

I am glad to hear your doing great! I had Gastric Bypass on Sept. 11 at Sinai with Dr Long. The hospital was great and so was Dr Long!
