Topic: RE: Possibly OT: Plastic surgeons in Maryland, VA, DC?
My two cents... I had bilateral mastectomies with reconstruction and there are two plastic surgeons who I highly recommend for any and everything.  I could not have made it through those surgeries without them and when I am done losing weight and stable one of them will be doing my tummy tuck and arm surgery :)

Topic: RE: Support group local to Severna Park/Pasadena/Annapolis
Dr. Kligman's group has a support group every 4th Wednesday of the month at the Tate Center on Hospital Drive in Glen Burnie.  On the BWMC hospital campus.  It's down in the lower level @ 7 pm.

I try to go every month....Mary B is there and does a short discussion on nutrition topics.  Then Andrew, the LSW..discusses a topic...each month something different.  We all interact with eachother throughout the meeting.

They also do events, clothing exchanges, recipe exchanges etc.

These support groups are always held on the same night that Dr. Kligman comes to the Tate Center to do a seminar.

Topic: RE: FMLA
I used FMLA when I had my surgery. I had to provide the ICD-9 code for the procedure, but did not have to explicitly tell them what surgery I was having. Medical information is supposed to stay private and management should not be able to disclose any of that information. Do you have an HR person you can go through?

Are you able to use FMLA for weight loss surgery and if so do you have to disclose what type of procedure you are having done. Management in my office tends to spread the news.

Topic: Approved!!
Got a call yesterday from the surgeon's office that I got my insurance approval. So I'm all set for my RNY on Nov 15. Still feels sort of strange to be so excited about major surgery, but I've been working hard on this for more than 6 months. I'm ready!

Topic: RE: BayView...Dr. Anne Lidor?
I had my surgery done at Bayview last 12/15.  I did not have Dr. Lidor - my surgeon was Dr. Steele - who I adore.  I was very happy with the care I received while in the hospital and by the entire Bayview medical team during my journey.

I have attended quite a few support groups at Bayview and really have found them to be both awe inspiring and helpful.  I would recommend getting to as many as possible early on.

Good luck on your journey - it is a trip of a lifetime.
