Does anyone have a recommendation for a gastroenterologist in the greater Washington D.C. Metro area? I have developed a stricture and am not entirely happy with my current GI doc in Northern VA.
Thanks!
I had my surgery with Dr. Kligman. He's associated with University of Maryland Medical Center. He runs a great program with most of his appointments at Shipley's just off 97. All of his nutritional counseling/classes are included at no extra charge and are so informative. When I go on to the forums here I am amazed at how many of the questions that are asked his staff have already answered completely. The preop main class just about a week or so before surgery was so good - came out with a huge compilation of information that answered almost any question you might ask and gave a roadmap of what to do, when to do it, etc. Top notch program. (Another plus - no drains after surgery, no dressings - stitches on inside, surgical glue that wears off on outside).
I have a couple questions. I'm considering getting the RNY Gastric Bypass surgery. I live in Glen Burnie, MD. My mom had it done and looks and feels great. She told me about William Roe, but I hear he is now retired. I have been struggling with my weight non stop. I was wondering if you had to recommend a doctor who would it be? How are you results? and any other information I'd appreciate it. Thank you
Drs Averbach, Singh and Hamdallah at St Agnes all accept Kaiser and would be happy to do your follow up.

I had a referral from my surgeon and went to Advanced Radiology.
I had my surgery with Dr. Kligman and have been extremely happy with both him and his office. I don't know what insurances they accept but are affiliated with University of Maryland.
I am three days post-op. My only regret about having the surgery is that I didn't have it sooner. I haven't the slightest worry about what I won't be able to eat. I am certain it will be small in comparison to what I couldn't do in the past. I say past because I already see myself in the future as a new person. I actually am still trying to get 64 oz of fluids down. It only shows me how I'd allowed myself to guzzle food and drink without even thinking about it. I now have a brand new, exciting, beautiful outlook on life. My doctor insist that I walk, and I actually am enjoying it. Walking was something I had definitely gotten away from. The air and sunshine feel better now! Jump in! You'll love it!!
Hi everyone!
I just had GBP on Sept 3rd and I am already dropping! I am on freecycle and craigslist already looking to find smaller clothes but had a wonderful idea if I could get it going. I have kids and have been to clothing swaps for kids clothes where you bring your gentle used clothes sort them by sizes and other parents come through grab what they need and you grab what you need from other donors. I thought this might be a great idea for us Marylanders of bariatric surgery to do as well because buying clothes right now even from thrift stores seems like a waste. If anyone else is interested please message me. Hopefully we can get a group going and get it growing to help out other patients as well.
