Hi, I would like to know the name of your doctors office... My office has no clue as to how to get approval
Hi there!!
I was hoping there might be someone here who chose Dr. Alex Gandsas out of Anne Arundel Medical Center for a VSG?? I had an informational session scheduled with him for yesterday but needless to say, it was canceled due to inclement weather. I am a little bummed but have registered for another session on 2/11. Hate to have to pu**** out into next month but what more can I do??
Anywho, I am also considering Dr. Kuldeep Signh at St. Agnes in Baltimore. I have heard wonderful things about him as well as St. Agnes being a Bariatric Center of Excellence. The only thing is St. Agnes is kinda far from my house and I am thinking about long term accessibility (nutritionist visits as well as post surgery support groups). Dr. Gandsas is much closer, about 7 minutes from my house, but I don't know much about him other than what his website says. AAMC is not really noted for it's Bariatric Surgery Program, it has only been in existence for a few years. Looking for input from anyone who has had bariatric surgery with him.
Thanks!
Does anyone have Care First of Maryland and had the sleeve? I have Care First. My doc office says the sleeve is not covered, Even though on the website and there covered procedures states it is. www.gbmc.org/workfiles/ManagedCare/BlueLink_201304.pdf
Even though my BMI is 48.5 and a failed lap band patient, they will not cover it. I still have my co-morbid problems. I have Sleep Apnea, HTN, and now gallbladder issues, and slight insulin resistance.
My doctors office says we are at a standstill and there is nothing they can do.
Is there a firm, lawyer, or advocacy center that will appeal for me and get an approval?
Thank you so much,
Mike
Hello
I am a newbie and I live in MD, I am 26yo and a mother of 3 two grls and a boy and a full time college student. I graduate in May 2014 A.A Psychology. I have been considering WLS since 2008. My highest was in 2005 after the birth of my 1st and I was 398 since then I have remained in the 300+ range only dropping down to 285 for 3 or 4 months when I decided to starve myself for 2 months and then only eating salad and yogurt for the other 2 months and that was in 2009. I am currently 352 and 5'3 with a BMI of 62. I consider myself a healthy fat person because the only medical issues is obesity. I have UHC Community Plan through Medicaid. Dec 2nd I completed my 6months and I am currently waiting for the mental eval to be submitted so they can submit my papers to the insurance. My question is, Is there anyone out there that have UHC Community Plan and has gone through this process.
Thanks in advance
Dr. Von Ruden is at University of Maryland, ST. Joseph Medical Center in Towson. He can be reached at 410-427-5430.
hope you're doing better but have they checked out your gallbladder? I don't know anything about PP - your best bet is to call the ins, co. but it doesn't sound like you need a revision, not a significant enough gain. You probably need to revisit he basics and examine your diet now vs. then.
