Topic: RE: Maryland Physicans Care.

Hello I had Maryland Physcians Care back inb 2011-2012. And I had RNY done at the University of Maryland University Hospital.

Everything that I need done was covered.

And I got it done through Medicaid and I was approved on the first try.

Hope this helps.

Hi! I'm new and I am getting the gastric bypass

, just waiting on insurance approval. My question is, have any of you had Dr. Magnusm? Any feedback is appreciated.

Topic: What the heck is a Bariatric Prom?

It's an evening to celebrate our new lives, that's what!

My name is Nikki. I've been an OH member since 2009. Some of you may see me next month at OH Conference as I'm leading a session on how to handle awkward situations post-WLS.

But this post is about a special event I'm putting together here in MD called Bariatric Prom. This is not a money making venture or a business. It's just an event a fellow post-op and I are putting together because we'd like to have a nice, formal event where we can get dolled up, eat WLS-friendly food, dance, meet new people and just generally have a great time.

So here are the event details:

Bariatric Prom, November 1st 5 - 10 p.m. at the Event Room at Morganview Apartments, 1500 Pentridge Rd., Baltimore, MD. Tickets are $35/1 person, $65/2 people.

Our guest speaker will be Ms. Ernestine Shepherd, former title holder for World's Oldest Female Body Builder (and she didn't start getting fit until her 50's!). There will be a DJ, the opportunity to have a same-day portrait taken, and ALL the food will be WLS friendly.

To learn more about this event, including more about Ms. Shepherd and also some stories of the inspiring post-ops who will be attending, you can visit http://bariatricprom.blogspot.com. Tickets can also be purchased from that site. If you have any questions, feel free to post them and I'm happy to answer. But it should be a fun night to celebrate ourselves, no matter where we are in our journeys!

Anyway, thanks and I hope to meet some of you there!

RNY Gastric Bypass 1-8-08 350/327/200 (HW/SW/CW). I spend most of my time playing with my food over at Bariatric Foodie - check me out!

I'm just thinking about bariatric surgery. More on the vertical sleeve. I was wondering if anyone has had Maryland Physicians Care to cover weight loss surgery? If so, was it difficult?

Sounds to me that you also gained yourself. I bet it is an awesome feeling.

I had mine with Dr Von Rueden at GBMC 7 years ago -  I believe he now practices thru St Josephs - I would recommend him highly!

Well yesterday was my 7th anniversary of my RNY!  I thought a lot yesterday about that fateful day!  Would I do it again  ??  YES!   without a doubt no hesitation whatsoever!

I never reached my "goal "  but I am within 10 Lbs. of my lowest weight.

It's not only about what a lost -  Its more about what I gained!.  I have traveled several times via airplane.  Something I couldn't do before.  I have crossed tons of things off my "bucket list"

I parasailed twice; ridden roller coasters for the first time in my life!  But most important I have gained so many dear friends that " get me".  I never could have done this without them.

So to anyone contemplating surgery I say go for it :  You won't regret it!

Very well written. Thank you for pointing out how the positives so "out weigh" the negatives.   So what if I am not gonna have a thick slice if bread from the oven.   I can run up the stairs now instead of one at a time and out of breath.   What I have given up God has blessed me with so many blessings to not miss the few.
