Hi all I was wanting to know if anyone had United Health Care Plus Choice and has gone to do their Psych eval. Every time I try to look it up, it tells me that there are no docs in the area I am choosing.

I believe MAMSI or United Behavioral Health manages their mental health benefits (look on the back of your insurance card) and check out those websites...you'll find a lot of providers in your area. Samantha

Hi Kim, I also have UHC-Choice Plus & I'm still waiting for an approval. So I haven't done the Nutrition Consult (have to pay out of pocket) or the Psych Consult. I'm not sure if you have set up your account on www.myuhc.com. But if you have, you can go there, click on Physicians & Facilities, then Find Mental Health Care. This will take you to another site, where you will be able to search for the psychiatrists covered under your plan. I will send you an email with what I found. How long did it take you to get approval from UHC? Thanks, Tiffany

Hi Kim, My particular insurance policy requires members to use Magellan Behavioral Health Services rather than CareFirst BC/BS, so looking on Carefirsts' website was useless. I suggest that you call the member services number and ask for the names of a few providers. If they list Harvey Fernbach, the psychiatrist I used, he would be a good choice. I've found, when I had MAMSI, calling for names was sometimes better than using the website or book. My eval cost only my copay, so even if I had to travel a bit to find a provider, that would have been worth more to me than self-paying. I just don't have an extra $150- -$450 hanging out with nothing to do. Best Wishes, E.W.
