Another update

Not so much to report, but it helps me feel like I'm making progress if I check in occasionally LOL. I go to see Dr S on May 22nd. I'm working on my PCP supervised diet. When I see Dr S I'll be done 3 months and have 3 more months to go. I had my physical today, complete with bloodwork. Bloodwork was completely normal but I have a urinary treact infection. My PCP is also referring me for my sleep study so that'll be done by the time I see Dr S. I dont' know if we would have required one from me but, this way, if he does want it, it's done. I also have to get a spinal x-ray done because I ahve back pain. I'm a fat chic with 1 year old twins. Any idea why I might have back pain LOL. I also have to have a hearing test done, which is totally unrelated to WLS but, when I told my PCP that I can't hear someone unless I can see them she thought it might be a good idea to get my hearing check (ya think). My PCP was concerned about me getting insurance approval because I have no real co-morbidities. But, today she told me that she referred another patient to Dr S and she also had no co-morbidities but they approved her based on family history. She doesn't think I'll have a problem because along with family history I also have infertility due to PCOS and I had premature birth, both possibly due to being overweight. So, she's been really positive as far as thinkign I should be ok with getting approval. My only issue is still not being able to get an accurate weight. I'm so darn close too, to being able to be weighed on her scale. Hopefully by next month it won't be an issue. So, almost one month exactly until I see Dr S. This last month has flown by. Hubby and I are going on our first vacation next month, since I got pregnant (10/2004). Luckily we're going the week before my consult so it'll keep my mind off the waiting. It'll be interesting to see how it goes traveling with 2 kids. Ironicly we're going the same place we were vacationing when I got pregnant. We ARE NOT hoping for a repeat preformance LOL. Hopefully in a month I"ll be one step closer to being a big loser

Tina, You sound so much like me it's almost scarey!! I don't, however have any twins!!!! ) I have my first appt with Dr. S on May 1. I'm also 3 mos into my MD supervised diet. Also too heavy to get an accurate scale weight. I have been attending Weigh****chers, and my PCP is using the WW documentation for my weights. Also no huge comorbidities. Basically, healthy, but fat!!! My concern is also family history, plus I am at an age where my luck with the comorbidities is going to start to run out. I don't want to be too old for surgery and be unhealthy. Hopefully getting insurance approval won't be an issue because my BMI is high enough to fall within the NIH guidelines for the surgery. I am looking forward to seeing Dr. S., although even at this early stage, I am starting to get nervous about the whole process. I'll probably be a wreck later on! Have a great time on your vacation, but BE CAREFUL!!!! Bring back some sal****er taffy or something for a souvenir this time!!! ) I'd really like to keep in touch with you to compare notes as we go along. Let me know what you think about that.

Keeping in touch sounds great. It would be nice to have someone to talk to who is going through the same things at about the same time. Mind if I ask your age? I'm 31. My BMI is somewhere around 56ish. Haven't officially figured it out since I don't have an accurate weight.

Tina, I am 52 according to my birth certificate but about 28-30 in my mind!!!! Sometimes it is hard for me to believe that I am an adult---let alone an older middled aged adult! My BMI is also somewhere around 56--like you, I can only estimate. And of course it fluctuates on a daily basis. I live and work in Montgomery Co. Met my husband 8 years ago, and was married for the first time 2 years ago. My husband is totally supportive and wonderful. He has 2 grown children, but one is back home living with us. Please keep in touch. We can compare notes on this awesome journey.
