OT: Are You Recent Divorced/Separated?

Okay, here's the scoop... After nearly 9 years of marriage, months of useless counseling and many, many fights, my hubby finally has admitted he is not capable of being the man I need him to be and has asked for a "separation." I am not surprised he wants out, yet I am somewhat caught off guard because he isn't able to admit to anything, but that's another story. The good news is that I healed from a broken heart a long time ago... Anyway, my question to you is has anyone out there recently separated or filed for divorce? I believe we can settle this amicably and would like to know if anyone out there has been able to keep the "ambulance chasing" lawyers out of the midst. If a lawyer is needed, can you recommend an honest one? Thank you, thank you, thank you! Wish me luck as I start my new journey in life! - Heather

Sorry to hear about your marriage hon, my ex and I filed in PG county..very amicable, no lawyers at all. However, we had no children and agreed to certain things up front. We got the papers filled em out, went to the court house and boom...divorced. I would check your county goverments website to see what the process entails so you could be well informed, because a lot of variables come into play. The best way to keep the vultures at bay is to have an agreement up front even if you guys get a letter notarized. Best wishes on your new journey. MsG
