I've been told to resume my pre-op meds. Aren't we not to have anything solid in our system? I crushed 1 pill I need but it took most of my fluid allotment to get the terrible taste out of my mouth as well get the pill down. Capsules we can just open and take, for now? What about small pills, is it ok to take them as is?

Diana I just responded to your other post. I never had to crush any of my pills. I was taking all of my pills as they come. I never crushed any of them. I can remember Dawn and Roe saying if ya don't crush before surgery then why would I want to do it after.

Diana, My doctor assured me a few days ago that I could take all my meds from day 1. I just have to go slow and let them pass through. He said that they will break down in time to still be absorbed. This is with a proximal bypass. He said that even time released were okay as long as they broke down enough before absorption. These were some of the reasons that he decided to stop doing distal bypasses. It's easier on the patient' s life after bypass. Happy Rebirthday, Dotsie
