A Doctor Roe's Patient How long before the swelling in the stomach goes down. Surgery was March 27th. Came home yesterday, March 30th. I'm not a person who sleeps on their back but prefers my side and would love to get a good night's sleep.

Diana Glad to see you are home. How are you doing? I was sleeping on my side about 3 to 5 nights from surgery. My right side hurt me a little, so I was mainly sleeping on my left side. Don't you just have so much love for the man in black? Michelle

Glad I'm not the only one who notices the man black. Luv his suttle inuendos. Let's me know, he's right there with us and not so high and mighty, that we can't relate. I was given the orders to resume some of my pre-op meds. But do I need to crush them all? I did one and it was soooo nasty, took awhile to get it down. The capsules I can open up and take? Went to sleep on my side last night in my bed. Felt so good but my sleep is still screwed up. Only slept a couple hours before I was up and back out in the livingroom. Then a few hours later I was able to fall asleep again.

Hi Diana Congratulations on coming to the losing side!! We have to all love the man in black don't we. I was actually one of the few that could fall asleep in the hospital and find myself laying on my side when I woke up. Can you imagine the nurses surprise when I had to page them to come and help me get resituated. I'M STUCK!! I never had to crush my meds. I would call the office Monday or post over on baltimorebariatrics.com and ask there. I know for a fact that he reads over there. I have gotten a few emails directly from him.

The antibiotic he has me on were horse pills. It took adding all of my liquid allotment, to the crushed up pill and 3 times to get most of the 1 pill down. Then constant sipping for over an hour and half to get rid of the nasty taste! Actually I did call my pcp's office, explained my situation. They called around several pharmacies, to find the liquid form of the antibiotic and called it in. Anyhow, got my meds in. Good to go. I'm still very pumped up (swollen) with fluids, throughout my whole body, (feet, hands stomach, arms, legs, etc). Everything is swelled. It's even put a little pressure on the incision, making the staples seem to want to pop off. Otherwise I'm feeling alright.
