What happen?
Yesterday, I had about 33 gms of sugar all day (pretty average or even below what I usually do...). I went to bed around 9:30 feeling fine...not a problem..
At 12:33, I woke up with incredible stomach pain (so I went to the bathroom...) nothing happened. I was convinced that I was dieing and that every medical issue Dr. G. mentioned Wednesday nigh****ing me. I went back to bed...and was freezing... Chills, goose bumps... comforter, electric blanket, blanket, dog, etc.. Was hoping for death... Laying there till 1:05, felt the urge to go to the bathroom...ended up wanting to vomit (sorry) and actually spit up about 2 tbsp (no, I didn't measure..lol) of salivia. Still freezing, stomach pain...etc..decided to just sit on the bathroom floor and wallow in self pity/pain...suddenly had to go potty...and dealt with diaherrea for a few minutes. By the way, the new Iron tablet is wonderful... Finally went back to bed at about 1:45 feeling much, much better...
Did I suffer from the alleged "dumping syndrome"? I haven't gotten sick yet, I haven't thrown up yet... So I really don't know what yesterday was about. Any idea........
Hi Daniel -
What was the last thing you ate? Dumping, in my experience, and it's only happened once - THANK GOD!, occurs pretty quickly after you eat the offender. So, since there was about 3 hours between the time you went to bed and the "incident," it doesn't sound like dumping - again, just my opinion/experience.
However, our floor in the office has been "sharing" two different bugs that are going around - a stomach virus and a flu-like virus - neither of which sound particularly fun! Maybe it was just a bug!
Anyway, sorry not to be able to offer any more insight, but I'm hoping you feel lots better.
Happy St. Pat's!

When you say stomach do you mean more like at belly button level, above or below it? It could have been dumping 33 grams of sugar may well have tempted fate too much. If the pain was more like in the back and you still have a gall bladder that could be part of it too.
If it happens again, you might want to call your PCP or your surgeon.
You obviously have done very well in following the eating guidelines to have avoided a dumping or vomiting experience.
Daniel Hi,
I would give Dr. G's office a quick call. Since they want to know about abdominal pain(s).... As posted it could be anything... gall bladder, dumping, flu...
When I've dumped it was pretty immediate well within 30 minutes if that long.
I've also had what you described and I have chalked it up to "just one of those things"... I do make a note and bring up at my annual physical as well as annual surgeon appt.
Best wishes,
Lisa
Daniel,
I have had dumped and like everyone else previously said mine also occured immediately after eating the "TRIGGER" food(s). my first experience, I got chills, then sweaty, abdominal pains and all. Went to the bathroom but nothing happened. After lying down for a few hours it went away.
I have recently in February experienced what you were having and I called the surgeon's office and they said that I could be dehydrated. She put me on a liquid diet for the next 24 hrs but I pretty much stayed on that for a week because I had no appetite. After drinking Gatorade for a day or two and symptoms not improving the doctor claims that I may have had food poisoning or the stomach virus. To this day I don't know what I officially had but I think that it was the stomach virus because other family members within weeks started getting ill as well. I was able to take chewable Pepto Bismol which seemed to help with the stomach pain.
I would call the doctors if your symptoms come back. I hope you feel better soon!
