BMI SAYS IM STILL OBESE CAN THE CHARTS BE WRONG?
WELL I FINALLY HAVE SEEMED TO HAVE STABILIZED SOME CALL IT A PLATEAU BUT I DONT WANT TO GET ANY SMALLER. AT 6'3" IM WEARING A 38" WAIST AND A MEDIUM TO A LARGE SHIRT. AND BELIEVE IT OR NOT I WEIGH IN THE 240'S. ONCE I GET PLASTIC ITLL PUT PE IN THE 230'S . DOESNT FEEL LIKE ITS ONLY BEEN 11 MONTHS. I JUST FEEL GREAT!! IVE LOST ABOUT 270 LBS IN 11 MONTHS STILL CANT BELIEVE I EVER GOT THAT BIG. FUNNY THING IS AT MY HEIGHT AND MY CLOTHING SIZES MY BMI IS JUST SLIGHTLY IN THE OBESE RANGE. BUT YOU TELL ME DO I LOOK OBESE? I FIGURE THE BMI DOESN'T FACTOR IN ATHLETES OR MUSCLE MASS. WEARING A 36-38 WAIST AND A M- L SHIRT AT 6"3" ID HAVE TO DROP 50 MORE LBS TO BE IN NORMAL RANGE. MAYBE IF I CUT OFF BOTH MY LEGS I MIGHT GET THERE! just posted new photo in profile you be the judge
Steve,
BMI is a measure but you are right it doesn't take into account muscle mass or body fat %. My doctor measures BMI because he has to for the insurance approval, but on an ongoing/followup basis he puts more stock in lean muscle mass and body fat %. I don't have a weight goal, but rather a percentage of body fat to achieve.
Congratulations on your sucess.
Hugs, Mo
Man Steve....I feel like we have taken this journey together as we started at the same time with the same surgeon and we communicate. Seeing how you look now bought tears to my eyes. WOW....amazing, absolutely incrediable. Here's to ya!
I have hopefully stabilized too, I don't want loose anymore weight, I have lost 140 pounds and in a size 6. According to my goal weight I'm 10 pounds under, but I feel great and don't feel like I'm to thin.
What a success story, i'm happy for you.
Take care
