support group
Hi Linda.
I live close to Ft Meade. My dh is stationed there. I go to a support group at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in DC. It's the second Thursday of the month at 6:30 PM. There are a lot of us there. This meeting is open to family members too. DC isn't too bad of a drive, only 40 minutes for me and I go down 29. Let me know if you want more information, directions, etc. [email protected]
They also have a Lifestyles and Viewpoints meeting on the other Thursdays of the month at 6:00 PM. That is mostly just for those that have had surgery or are having surgery. It's to help with beginning new/reinforcing good habits (food choices, exercise, etc) and also psycological issues that may arrise.
I hope we can meet sometime. I will be having surgery on March 15th. I can hardly wait. But I am glad that it is finally happening.
Talk to you soon. Robin S.

It's the first and 3rd Wednesday of the month. the Post op meeting is held at 6pm on the first Wednesday of the month and then regular support group for pre and post ops is at 7 on both of the Wednesdays. I hope to see you there.

Hello Linda -
We are in the process of rebuilding a support group in the Pasadena/Glen Burnie area, which is close to Ft. Meade. We would love to have you join us, the first meeting is on Wednesday, February 8th at 6:30 pm.
Feel free to email me if you have have questions or would like to attend.

Hi! I work at Fort Meade as well and I am scheduled for surgery on June 7th. I am a teacher so financially I had to wait until the school year was almost over. My husband had WLS 5 years ago and went from 500 to 250. But he is a man with few emotions. It would be great to have a person to talk with and a support group closer. Once a month, I have to go to Franklin Square for my surgeon's required support group meeting, but I'd rather develop ties closer to my work and home.
