Nadine - Switch PCP's. The obviously lack the knowledge about WLS or what it is like to be morbidly obese. Mine is Dr. Sabundayo at Mercy Medical Center in downtown Baltimore. He was very supportive. The main number to Mercy is 410-332-9000.. just ask to be connected to his office. I don't know the direct phone number off the top of my head. I happen to work there in the IT department. If you are still looking for surgeons check out Dr. Mark Kligman at University of Maryland Medical Center. He is wonderful and his program continues to thrive. More on my profile as well as info about why I like his program so much. Good Luck!

My PCP was very supportive. Her name is Dr. Sarah Whiteford, Family Care Associates, Greater Baltimore Medical Center. She recommended my bariatric surgeon, Dr. Von Rueden (also at GBMC) and he is excellent. Her number is 443-849-2707. P.S. I also have Blue Cross. Good luck!

Hi.. I'm 39 yrs old as well and my PCP didn't need to recommend me for the surgery. I have Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO also. They approved me 4 days after I saw Dr. Anez. I wish you the best of luck. I'd want to switch Dr. if they told me what they told you [[[[["She told me to drink 6-8 glasses of water daily, don't eat so much, and walk. OK, WOW, I never knew that was all I had to do!"]]]]
