Try finding a new PCP. Try asking for recommendations. MD PCP of Pasadena is a great group. I'd recommend you trying to see Loraine Dailey or Barbara Easly. If you decide to switch. Their number is 410-255-2700. I am not sure which surgeon your seeing but you could ask your surgeon if there are PCP's that he recommends that would support your decision to have surgery. Try attending a support group meeting and asking other members who their PCP's are. Good luck with your journey. Denise

I have BCBS PPO and I never asked my PCP for a referral. I didn't even ask him about the surgery. I figured I have been seeing him for YEARS for pills and problems and if he didn't suggest it by now, he wasn't going to. I saw him after my surgery and told him about it. He was surprised, but supportive....and pleased with the results. I went straight to the surgeon with a copy of my medical records for the past 10 years (even though that much history was not required). The surgeon reviewed my history and decided that I was a good candidate and submitted to BCBS for approval. My surgeon is also in Northern Virginia (Fairfax)- Dr. Osvaldo Anez. He is very good. He has been doing this for a LONG time (check out his profile on OH). I met with him in May and had my surgery on June 1st. I also did not have to go through the psch eval, which was nice to have one less thing to do pre-op. I have learned with BCBS that you have to be very proactive. I think they save themselves a lot of money by just telling people that it's not covered because so many just accept that answer and do not inquire further. Hopefully, you won't have to deal with that - but if you do, don't give up. My story is on my profile. Best of luck to you! Pam

Hi Nadine. Sorry to hear you're having such a hard time. I go to my PCP tomorrow to get a referral but it'll be the second time I've gotten one from ehr so I don't anticipate a problem. The first time I got one she was very supportive. I saee Dr Nellie Whittaker at Crofton Medical Group. One of the few doctors I've seen, in a long long time, that I really like.

Nadine, I don't know if you'd be willing but if you can make to Harford County for a couple of PCP visits, my PCP totally believes in WLS and refers her patients whenever she feels they could benefit from it. They have evening hours and if nothing else seems to be working, it might be worth the drive. Email me if you want any detailed info. [email protected] Roni
