Insurance (Alliance)

First I'd like to thank everyone for their suggestions for surgeons. I've (hopefully) decided to go with Dr Schweitzer at Bayview. I go to my PCP this week for my referral. She happily gave me one in the past (then found out I wasn't covered for WLS) so I don't anticipate any problems. So, my next question...Anyone have Alliance PPO that has had surgery? I've already called to check if I'm covered and they say I am (medically necessary, of course). But I'm so nervous that something will stop me again since it happened last time. The onyl problem I anticipate is going to be the med supervised weight loss. I did 6 months last time I was trying for surgery and that was just about 2 years ago. I guess I'm just nervous and looking for any kid of reassurance I can get.

Hi Tina, I have Alliance PPO and I had the surgery almost 2 years ago. I had no problem getting approval. They do require the 6 month diet thing. It took about 3 weeks for the approval. Good Luck Cheryl

Hi, just saw your post and hope I'm not too late in responding. I have Alliance PPO and I had the Duodenal Switch with Dr. Schweitzer on Dec 1st. It only took them 2 days to approve the surgery! Typically, it's harder to get the DS approved by insurance but Alliance was great! Good luck! Dr. S. is GREAT! He is a rock star among surgeons. Dawn
