I am thinking about joinging the MAC in Timonium - I was curious if anyone works out there. I am looking for a workout buddy. I am currently 8 weeks post op and really need to kick up my workout schedule.

I went for the cheaper option and joined the Towson Y. $72/mo for a family membership and that gives you access to all the YMCAs in the area. I think it is around 30 something for one person. It isn't pretty like the other gyms and the equipment at the Towson Y is a little older but it has what I need and then some. Basketball courts, outdoor tennis courts, indoor pool, good classes, spinning, etc. They have daycare too if you have kids. Locker rooms are kinda old at Towson but I live a mile away so I don't need to use the locker room there. I think they are planning to remodel soon though. The MAC is a great more upscale gym. One of the best in our area if not THE best. My girlfriend, Beth Hirst, works there in HR. My husband actually took his personal training test there as well a few years ago. He was a manager at Merritt Athletic Clubs for a while and also worked at Federal Hill Fitness. We used to get free memberships to Merritt and FHF. In my opinion the MAC is much better then Merritt.. especially the Merritt in Towson. It has much more to offer.

Susan Hi, I just learned that Lifebridge Health and Fitness (where I belong) has an agreement with the MAC and others that allow members to use each others facilities up to 3X a month (I think that is right). I can tell you that being Dr. G's second surgery here, when he said sweat for 30 minutes a day, I took it to heart and haven't stopped yet. I'd be happy to meet you sometime and work out. I will tell you too, my gym time is great "me" time. It's the one thing I am selfish about only for me. So don't let not having a workout buddy deter you. Give yourself some "me" time. If interested, email me sometime and we can set something up. Hope you make support groups sometime. They are great to keep you on track no matter how far out you are. Best wishes, Lisa
