may not like what I hear, but I am too excited over the journey, and its all because of all of you and the wonderfull things I have been reading. I wake up excited and full of energy just knowing today is another day towards my goal, then I look on my computer at home and I see words of encouragement from many of you, then I hit work and see a few more. "I feel the LOVE!"

Congratulations on each step you take through this whole process! As you know every appointment, phone call or form filled out is on step closer to getting healthier. I'm about two months post op and thank God everyday for the support and information/advice I have received from this website. If there is any way that I can be helpful...feel free to send me an e-mail. Even though there are several different types of surgeries, lots of the ups and downs are the same. Plus, I too live in Silver Spring, MD.

You can expect me to be a nosey neighbor and bug you all the time for advice and information. I am not sure what surgery is best for me, I guess that is part of my journey as well. I am working on creating a folder at lunchtime to get me ready for all of this.

How long were you in the hospital and out of work. When were you able to get up and around

My husband and I both had the RNY through Kaiser, mine 11 of 2004 and his 12 of 2004. We both are doing fine. He so much better than me. I liked the fact that Kaiser makes you go through an intensive learning process before you can have the surgery. Oh and our surgeon was Dr Paul Lin our of DC. Who is your nutritionist? We had Joanne and although she was tough she was good. Well, contact us if you have any questions or just want to talk. Good luck on your journey.

Hello, I have Karen at silver Spring Kaiser in MD. She was rather nice, it sort of surprised me. I figured I would have it done at Holy Cross if approved. I am more worried about after surgery and getting around and how long people are normally out or down, since I have a two year old.

Thank you all for sharing in my Journey, As you all know I had the first Nutrition appointment yesterday and and here is is what I have in store so far and what I have taken care of already.
1/4/05 1st nutritionist meeting
1/5/06 PSY evaluation - Just did it this morning 1/5/06(9:30am
1/5/05 get blood work done to check liver
1/9/05 Bypass class at Kensington near work(4:30 pm
1/10/05 3:30 CT exam to check stomach area for hernia
1/24/05 4:30pm Weight loss class Kensington near work
2/16/05 11:45am Nutrionist meeting #2

Sorry I did not get back to you quicker, I was off and did not check my home email. I selected Dr. Anuradha Dahiya, she is excellent. She mentioned the surgery to me. When I walked out of her office, she had them make a nutritionist appointment for me, when I arrived at the appointment she had already provided a write up recommending surgery.
