Hi from Connecticut
Hi folks. I presently live in CT and am scheduled for lap RNY here on Jan 9. It looks like I will be moving to MD soon after surgery (yes, I know, less than ideal but a great job is calling me) and will be covered by Kaiser. I talked with their member services today to try to get a name of a bariatric surgeon affiliated with them that my surgeon could refer me to but got the usual speel of you will have to see a PCP who will decide if you need a referral, etc., etc., etc.
Do any of you know of a good bariatric surgeon affiliated with Kaiser in the MD or DC area? If not one with Kaiser what about someone else in the area? Any assistance you can provide I'd greatly appreciate.
Also, what about support groups? Not sure where I'll be living but will work in Rockville/Silver Springs area. (OT, any advice on looking for rental housing that will allow dogs would be great also.)
Thanks from snowy and cold CT.
No help on the referral part, but welcome to Maryland. I made the move from SW Connecticut 19 years ago and have never really looked back. We go back to visit, but I have come to really love Maryland (at least for another 5 or so years until we retire and move to NC .. lol).
Don't let us fool ya. It may not be as cold and snowy as CT but when it is cold and snowy .. it IS COLD AND SNOWY!!!
Hugs, Mo
You will want to get in contact with Dr. Brian Cantor. He was a partner with my surgeon and is very nice as well as being a good surgeon. I'm not sure which office he works from, but you should be able to find out.
Good luck!
