I am 6 weeks post-op and I have recently started having a problem with protein. Everything that I eat that has protein in it doesn't agree with me. My nutritionist said to drink the shakes but they aren't agreeing with me either. Does anyone have any suggestions?? I'm running out of ideas.

Check out the Isopure Zero Carb shakes. They come in bottles and taste more like juice.. I bought some on bariatriceating.com but I think you can get them in your local GNC. I'm having a grape frost one as I type this right now! 40 grams of protein and 160 calories- no sugar. I also just love the achiev one coffee protein lattes. Tastes just like starbucks. I've only found those online as well at bariatriceating.com. They are 20 grams of protein and 120 calories.

Hi Amy, I am almost 9wks out and have trouble with taking meds, vitamins, fluids and until I tried unjury brand protien, protein also. I find that it is light and does not have that funny protein drink smell. I use a bullet to mix it, so it is smooth but not too frothy. I like it pretty cold so I add a little ice. The company is great. I order it over the internet. If I order it on Monday it arrives the next day. I drink one shake a day and it insures me that I get my daily protein requirement in. I hope this helps. Michele www.UNJURY.com

I had problems with protein shakes as well...it wasn't the protein as much as the milk based items...I was highly lactose intolerant after WLS...and 19 months later, I still am....I would highly recommend lactaid free milk...it made a big difference for me. best wishes to you.. RAE

I had my surgery on 10/4 and was having issues getting all my protein in as well. I couldnt stand any of the milk based shakes and definitely cant handle the soy milk. I was told of a protein powder found at Costco that mixes with water and only 5 ozs. I think it is called Sport Pharma. It is 22 grms of protein and only 2grms of sugar. I went and bought some and it is so good. It is not gritty like alot that I tried and it only costs $20 for a huge container (enough for 97 shakes). I got the Rich Chocolate flavor. Very Yummy!!! I used Proteinex which was sorta lemony and I added it to my water. 15 G Protein per Tablespoon (I thinkg that is right). I purchased mine from Walmart (Pharmacy ordered through McKesson). I also used Permalean protein powder. You mix in water (4 / 5 oz) It's not heavy, chalky and 20G of protein. The vanilla is great and as you can tolerate further out you can mix with yorgurt or fruit. The chocolate is also very, very good. Best wishes... Lisa

Have you tried Whey Delicious? You can find it at www.wheydelicious.com. I enjoy the "My Favorite Chocolate" one. It's very smoothe and light tasting.
