Trouble with Fluids??
Well I am finally post-op, 5 days now. I was in a good bit of pain the first few days but each day gets better. I have been home for 3 days now and everything has been good as far as eating and fluids. Well except today I started having a problem with drinking fluids. I can eat pureed food with no problem but when I drink even a minimal amount of water it is very uncomfortable. The best way to describe it is that I can feel it going to my stomach and then once it gets there I get a weird uncomfortable pain. The pain last for about 10-15 seconds and goes away. But it has been happening every time I drink something. Has anyone had this problem right after surgery or know what to do about it? I have tried changing the type of fluid I am drinking, the tempurature of it and the amount. Can anyone help? Thank you!
Christina
Hi Christina, yes, I had "issues" with fluids, especially plain water...it actually hurt my pouch....at 19 months out, I still have trouble with plain water....try to ride it out...try changing fluids and temp as you mentioned...I noticed that my body changed every few days right after surgery.
Welcome to the losing side...

Same here Christina - ride it out. SIP, SIP, SIP, do not drink! Try differant things and see what works for you, every pouchie - poo is differant! As long as you are under 15 calories in the drink you should be fine with the content, just SIP! Now at a year and a half out mine is quite accustomer to Chic-fil-a tea
