Try Dr. Michael Schweitzer in Baltimore, MD. He does lap band surgery so I'm sure he does fills. I believe that he works out of Johns Hopkins Hospital Bayview. Call that hospital to find out how to get in touch with him. Michelle "Pookie" Engelmann

Donna, I just read your profile... Have you been to Mexico for your surgery yet? Its very smart of you to line up aftercare. If you havent had surgery yet, why dont you think again about a local surgery? Its not near the $24,000 you fear. I was self-pay with Schweitzer in April... $12,000 to JHU, and $3500 to Schweitzer. Having a local surgeon for aftercare is worth alot, in my opinion. (BTW, I ended up winning a refund because I won my stage 2 appeal of Carefirst BCBS) (Dr Pinnar is No. VA is also in that price range.) Barbara

Thanks Barbara, I'm having the surgery 12/9/05 in Mexico. I have been researching this for 2 years now. I have been in contact with Dr. Schweitzer by email. The total fee he quoted for everything is $ 17,000. I have since then did a little more research on another doctor in Mexico. I can get the Lap Band Inamed for $ 6500.00 that includes everything except my airfare which is only $ 392.00 non stop roundtrip for 2 to San Deigo . I also have BCBS Carefirst ( Bluechoice Open Access ) under a Maryland Small Group Reform which totally excludes the surgery due to a state mandated law for small groups. I'm glad you are getting your money back from the Insurance Company. I only wish that I could have went the route you did. Thanks Again Donna
