Home from surgery, but no surgery
Hello Family...Just wanted to update everyone on my surgery. I reported to the hospital for the second day in a row to have my surgery (the first day my surgeon had an emergency and couln't get to me). Everything was going as planned or so I thought. When I woke up in the recovery room I was informed that I did not have gastric bypass, but I did have a list of other things done. My gallbladder was removed, an ovary and a tube were removed (which had a fist size cyst on it) and part of my small intestine removed. I thank God I am still alive and will just take it easy for the next few months. Feeling kind of down but I know everything happens for a reason. Thanks for listening....
Wow, Annie. That must have been a shock to hear what they did remove. Was it laproscopic or full insision? Did you have someone with you at the hospital who consented to the changes in the surgery/removal of other organs? Given part of your small intestine was removed----that might be seen as 1/2 the gastric bypass surgery was done (although its typically only bypasssed and not removed). I guess on the bright side, the surgery allowed them to find these other issues that had to take priority over the gastric bypass. Was the cyst and other things removed malignant? Sorry if I am asking too much info---I am just curious---you do not have to answer. Perhaps it's a blessing in disquise as they may have never found those other issues if you did not elect to have GB surgery. Is there still a plan to have the gastric bypass or is that on hold for a while? God Bless and best wishes.
Serene,
Wow. I hope all will be negative with the Cyst and that they were being overly cautious. Please let us know when you get the biopsy results and if you will be able to have surgery in the future. Your in my thoughts just keep in mind everything happens for a reason. Why did they remove part of the small intestine?
You had a pretty big surgery I hope your feeling ok.
