Insurance questions......
I can't find any information on Maryland and their insurance practices. I am a business owner and we have small business insurance. I know that Maryland doesn't cover the surgery.....but there has to be some way. Right? I have been refused and there is nothing I can do. Has anyone ever dropped insurance and tried to get on public assistance to get the surgery? I know this sounds really crappy, but I need the surgery and my insurance is looking at it as money and not my health. I don't understand how public assistance covers this and I am a small business owner and pay out the butt for ins and I still cannot get the surgery.
The surgery is $26,000 private pay. Not chump change! If you happen to know anyone who has $26,000 chump change laying around
just kidding.
Anyhow, does anyone have any information on this??? I heard they are looking into making them cover it if it is medically necessary. Does anyone know if this is true? Thanks for the information!

Tammy,
I seem to remember some earlier exchanges of messages on this issue. Have you (or your business's insurance agent) attempted to bid out the health insurance for your business with a company that will agree to sell the required rider for the policy that will provide coverage for the surgery. I realize that not all companies will agree to sell it to the small business. I know that at one time MAMSI was agreeing to sell the rider for the small business health insurance. I don't know what their current position is now that they're part of a larger company.
