John Hopkins support
Sue,
I had my WLS done over two years ago with a different doctor at a different hospital so I have no first hand experiences with the program itself although I met with the Dr. there before having it done.
However last week I had my Tummy Tuck (finally) done with Dr. Shermack at Bayview. I still have drains and the pain meds aren't working but I liked Dr. Shermack and the job she did very much. But I was not at all impressed with Bayview nor the staff there. I was far from impressed with the cleanliness of the room (especially the bathroom), I was not able to get them to find me something I could eat. Meals were all starch and sugar and my request for them to at least find me a banana were met with unresponsiveness and indifference. They do not seem to understand that not everyone wants everything to taste sweet. Even the iced tea was full of sugar and when I explained I do not drink sugary drinks I was told no problem they have it with fake sugar. Gross I just wanted some plain iced tea with NOTHING in it.
Explaining the drug requirements were not much better, I was given painkillers in jel caps after trying repeatedly to explain that they would not dissolve or do anything, which they didn't. Hopefully the people dealing with WLS are better trained and the facility better maintained.
