6 MONTHS WITH KLIGMAN
WELL I WENT IN FOR MY 6 MONTH POST OP APPT YESTERDAY, AND EVERYTHING WAS PICTURE PERFECT. HARD TO BELIEVE 6 MONTHS HAS GONE BY ALREADY. DOWN BASICALLY ABOUT 240 LBS FROM MY HEAVIEST OF 515. DR WAS ESTATIC AND TOLD ME NOT TO CHANGE A THING!!!! JUST TO THINK 6 MONTHS AGO I WAS ORDERING SIZE 8X CLOTHES ONLINE FROM KINGSIZEDIRECT.COM , USING A CPAP NIGHTLY, BUYING NEW SHOES EVERY THREE WEEKS BECAUSE MY WEIGHT WAS CRUSHING THE INSOLES AND POPPING THE AIR CUSHIONS, LITERLLY LAYING BACK TO DRIVE AND NOT WEARING A SEATBELT BECAUSE IT WASNT BIG ENOUGH. NOW I CAN GO INTO OLDNAVY(NEVER THOUGHT THAT WOULD HAPPEN) AND BUY CLOTHES WITHOUT ANY PROBLEM, I EVEN WENT TO AN ORIOLE'S GAME TONIGHT AND I STILL HAD ROOM IN THE SEAT!!!( I REMEMBER WHEN IT HURT SO BAD FROM THE ARMRESTS CRUSHING IN ON MY HIPS) I KNOW IVE DROPPED ALOT FASTER THAN MOST AND IT IS HARD TO BELIEVE IT HAS ONLY TAKEN 6 MONTHS TO LOSE AN NFL LINEBACKER.(KINDA WEIRD IF YOU THINK ABOUT IT RAY LEWIS WEIGHS ABOUT 240) CANT BELIVE I WAS CARYING HIM AROUND FOR SO LONG, NO WONDER IT WAS HARD TO RUN AND MY FEET HURT AFTER WORK EVERY DAY. I'M POSITIVE NOW THAT MY ORIGINAL GOAL WILL BE ACHIEVED , AND THAT IS TO BE AROUND MANY MANY YEARS TO COME FOR MY DEAR WIFE AND DARLING 3 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER TARYN. I NOW FEEL AS ALIVE AS I USED TO WHEN I WAS A COLLEGIATE ATHLETE BEFORE MY BODY DECIDED TO GO HAYWIRE. I THANK MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS AND MY DR FOR ALL THE LOVE AND SUPPORT DURING THIS TIME AND GRATEFULL THAT ILL HAVE MANY MORE YEARS TO SHOW MY APPRECIATION. DR KLIGMAN TRULY HAS HELPED ME TO CHANGE MY AND MY FAMILY'S LIFE FOR THE BETTER. HE SAID YOU TYPICALLY LOSE 2/3 OF YOUR WEIGHT BY 6 MONTHS IF THAT IS TRUE I MAY BE LOOKING AT 220 BEFORE PLASTIC SURGERY TO HAVE THE EXCESS REMOVED. I'LL BE A BAD LOOKING MAN AGAIN AT 6'3". MAYBE I'LL LOOK INTO COACHING A YOUTH WRESTLING LEAGUE TO GET BACK INTO THE SPORT.
well ive rambled on enough
later all
Steve
Hi Steve - Love your follow up posts. Such an inspiration! So glad your 6 month went well. You have done an amazing job. Coaching a wrestling league sounds like a fantastic idea! Isn't it great how our quality of life just keeps getting better and better??!!!
I meet with Dr. Kligman for my 6 month sometime next month. That reminds me.. I need to call to schedule that appointment. Probably make it for end of October since my 3 month was a week late and I didn't get my lab work to him until a couple weeks after that.
I'm down about 60lbs now and also just thrilled with my results. My guess is by next month I should be down around 70lbs with about 70 more to go. So that would be more like my halfway point at 6 months.
I'm actually glad the weight is coming off a little slower in my case. I probably drop about 2lbs a week and continue to gain some muscle weight. Really hoping I don't have to do that much plastics for a while.
We may decide to try and get pregnant first when I am 2 years out.
The only thing that is a little wacky right now is my hormones which could be related to the weight loss. Getting some awful mood swings the last month or so. My poor husband! Need to see my OB/GYN at 6 months and see if she can get my cycle back on track. I think that would help a ton. I'l probably also talk about that at next weeks support group meeting. I wonder if others are also having a lot of mood swings at this point.
Wow, Steve, that is phenomenal! I bet you are thrilled to death, and you should be!!! (I'm more of a lurker here, and a poster elsewhere, but have been following your good work.... and my girl Stacey, too.... my lunchtime buddy.
I was banded in late April, so am at a slower point than you guys now (and getting another fill on Mondyak, for those of you who know aoubt fills ) but am ahppy plugging away behind you... hope to be at my goal in 15-18 months.
Take care. Keep up the good work! Barbara
