Local Support Groups?

Hi all!Although I live in Maryland, I had my surgery in Pennsylvania. I am looking for a support group in the Baltimore City or Baltimore County area. I've seen others post about Bayview, but are their meetings open or only for those that have gone through their program? Anyone know about other groups? Samantha

Hi Samantha - We have a support group at University of Maryland Med Ctr. in downtown Baltimore but I'm not sure if they are open to non-Dr. Kligman patients. I know its ok for us to have guests so I don't see why not. My guess is yes but give them a call and check. Please call Nadja Muchow at 410-328-8940 and check with her. Hi Samantha Bayview is open to anyone who wants to attend.. At the present we meet on the second Tuesday of every month but we're in the process of starting more groups. The extra meetings are in the planning stage but we will keep everyone up dated on our progress. Karen Duncan

There is a monthly support group at Franklin Square Hospital in Rosedale, MD on the third Sunday of every month (except December) at 2pm. It is for anyone considering having the surgery, those in the prep stages, and for post-operative patients and beyond. Usually, the local gastric bypass surgeon, Dr Apparo Vanguri, shows up. The meeting is facilitated by a former gastric bypass patient who also works for Dr. Vanguri. Great people and great ideas abound.

There is also a group that meets at Frederick Memorial Hospital on the first Wednesday and 3rd Thursday of the month. We start at 7pm and are on the second floor in classroom number 4. I know of several people who come from Baltimore for these meetings.
