Getting a little frustrated on this end...
My surgery was done by Dr. Li, who works out of the same office as Dr. Gandsas. I thought she was really great. I don't know why you are having trouble getting an appointment except that I heard Dr. G had been really sick and wound up cancelling some surgeries and then rescheduling them further out. But the insurance verification should not take that long! It's just to check and see if your insurance company covers the surgery -- it's not your approval for surgery. But, if it would speed things up, you might ask Eileen if you can get a consultation with Dr. Li. She's the "junior" in the partnership, but after meeting her, I wouldn't want anyone else doing my surgery.
I got the information from Union Memorial this weekend. After a cursory glance, it looks like they expect you to pay everything up front and also fight the insurance battle on your own. I know it can be done but I've heard that Dr. Gandsas' office helps you do it if you're struggling. I definately need to research my other options even though I'm very disappointed right now by Dr. Gandsas' office. I really want to use them but I feel like I've waited long enough and would at least like to get started officially with someone. I have all the paperwork, initial insurance verification, letters of recommendation from my PCP, Gyn, and Endocrinologist. I've had most of the initial tests within this year because of my other illnesses and I've been seeing a psych on a regular basis. So basically, the last step is the most important one...finding surgeon that will see me!
Thanks again for all your support. I'll start looking into the support groups and you'll see me around. You guys have been great!!!
