Dr. Smoot anyone??
Hello Lisa,
I am currently a patient of Dr S, but havent had the surgery yet. I have met him and he is a very straight-forward person. He explained in details the good and the bad of the surgery without holding back. I have read a lot of testimonials from his patients on his forum at Upper Chesapeake Bariatric Surgery, New Course for Life. I am looking forward to a surgery date soon. Good Luck in your search for a doctor.
Dr S is my surgeon and he's amazing! I had my surgery April 22 laproscopically and was home by the 24th. We have a support group meeting Sept 13th at 7pm in the hospital down on the basement level beside the cafeteria( Chris, his nurse, posts signs). You're more then welcome to come to them...if you can't make this one we have one the 2nd Tuesday of every month.
Dr S is very straight forward...he doesn't pull any punches about what this surgery means and the way you'll have to do things afterwards. He takes the time to answer every single question you can possibly have and he's never made me feel like any of them were "stupid" questions the way some doctors can. He's very adament about after care which is one of the main reasons I chose him...that and I really wanted an IVC filter put in before surgery and he does those too.
Feel free to email me anytime with any questions!
Cathy
Well Lisa, I agree with everything Cathy said. Dr. Smoot is very friendly and extremely knowledgable. Just a talented surgeon. I also had my surgery on the 22nd of April along with Cathy. We are both happy and successful, but you do have to put forth some effort. If you are going through the trouble of taking this big step then at least follow Dr. Smoot's routine, it is designed to help you, and not terribly hard to do. His staff is also extremely friendly and helpful. Hopefully we will see you at the support group meeting on Tuesday at 7pm.
Good luck to you, Mark
