Help..Need PCP in MD/DC area

Has anyone had a good (great) experience with a sensitive PCP in the Maryland/DC area? I need one so that I can start this whole process and I am terrified of going to someone who is either totally against WLS (like my ob/gyn) or is not sensitive to obesity issues. I guess I just don't need anyone else telling me that I need to count calories and work out more...Thanks

I love my PCP. They're on Shady Grove Road (rockville/gaithersburg). It's Comprehensive Primary Care and I see Pam Godwin. She really supports WLS and has several patients that have had sugery. Most with Dr. Barry Greene, but another surgeon as well. She's good with the paperwork that the insurance companies require as well. The number is 301-869-9776. Good luck and best wishes, Lynn

I have been very happy with Zhanna Kalikhman. After working with me for the last couple of years, she agreed that dieting alone just was not going to cut it. She encouraged me to have this surgery, and her office staff was heroic in turning out all the referrals I needed for the pre-surgery testing. She actively worked with Dr. Li and her office to make sure the surgery went smoothly. Dr. Li called her when I came out of surgery to give her an update. I continue to see Dr. K as she is gradually reducing my meds. We are both thrilled with my weight loss. Dr. K is in the Columbia/Elkridge area (just off I-95). BTW, my ob/gyn was also actively supportive of the surgery when I mentioned it to her.

Hi A.C.- I would highly reccomend Dr. Shelley Williams. She is located in Silver Spring, MD. She is very knowledgeable about WLS and in fact shares her office with a gastric bypass surgeon (Dr. Gary Harrington, Holy Cross Hospital). You don't have to use this surgeon to use her services. (Although he has been doing WLS for many years and also comes highly recommended) In fact she sees a number of us who use a variety of surgeons simply because of her vast knowledge of our unique pre- and post-surgical needs concerning ongoing lab work, etc. She takes a wide variety of insurance plans.
