Hernia Repair Question with mesh

I just had a hernia reapired on Tuesday. For those who have had one repaired with mesh, how long did it take before you felt back to normal. Meaing you could lay on your side , situp, or turn without feeling it inside. I'm still very sore,but I was curious does it ever feel normal. Thanks, Erika H.

Erika, I had my hernia repaired in March, and it does take a couple of weeks for you to start feeling normal again. You are still healing, and I'm sure your doctor also did alot of muscle repair as well. Hang in there, you'll be feeling much better in a couple of weeks. Cheryl

E. Honey, I also had hernia repair with mesh on July 15th. I still feel tender along the incission. I was able to lay on my side with pillow two weeks after the repair. Recently, I became worried that the pain that I still had might be there for a while but was reassured by a friend who had also had the surgery that the pain will pass. My surgeon said that my stomach with the mesh is stronger then before-comparing it to a young women who hasn't had any children. God Bless... Mary Rose
