Hi All, There is a possibility that my hubby will be gettign orders to Andrews AFB, I was hoping that someone here would have some information on Doctors Either @ the Base or off base that have dealt with WLS patients. Also, any info on the Base would be greatly appreciated. Have a great day. B

Andrews is VERY close to Rockville MD and my surgeon Dr. Barry Greene, who is wonderful and DOES take TriCare!!! If you need any other information, his website is www.advancedwls.com and you can call the office for information! He's an excellent surgeon, with good before and after care, excellent support groups and an excellent staff! Good luck, and feel free to email me if you have any questions.. BTW, I live in Delaware and travelled to MD for my surgery!! Blanche

B, if you travel 55 minutes south from AAFB, straight down Rt. 4 (Pennsylvania Ave.), you will find my home. We live in Calvert County. Beautiful area, lots of people travel to the base to work, and we are surrounded by beautiful bodies of water (Chesapeake Bay and the Potomac River). I had Dr. Paul Lin perform my open RNY. He is at George Washington University Medical Center, approximately 30 minutes from AAFB. Not sure about what insurances he accepts, but can sure give you his number. If you have any questions about MD, please feel free to post or email me at [email protected]. Best of luck!! TraciL

TraciL, Thanks for you information as well, the more I get the better. I am hoping that if we get to come to MD, I will have no problems getting a follow on surgeon. I had my surgery @ an AFB hospital and had no problems there, so I hope not to have too much trouble in MD. I may contact you as well if we move there for more info...thanks so much, have a wonderful evening. B

Hey B I am a few miles from Fort Meade also in Maryland. From what I have figured out so far, None of the military bases are doing the WLS due to the high volume of injured miltary men and women. I have Tricare Prime, my husband is retired Navy. I went to Dr Mark Kligman's seminar and he was friendly but stern. He answered everyone's questions, you left the seminar with a very good understanding of the surgery pre op and post op. I am in the process of getting approval for the surgery. Let me know if you come in the area, I can help you once I get all the information. Denise
