OT: ANYONE LOOKING FOR A RECEPTIONIST IN BALTIMORE SUBURBS?
Hi - I realize this board is not necessarily made for this type of issue, but since you all have been so helpful in everything else, I thought I'd take a chance. My Mom, who is a very young 62, has been out of work since March, when Blue Cross automated her receptionist position after she had been with the company for 15 years! She received severance, but that and unemployment has now run out, and although she took the retirement package they offered, it only pays about $250 a month, which is a little more than the cost of the insurance for her and my Dad. They have Blue Choice, the HMO I have, and with whom I've had no problems approval-wise, and it's important that they stay with that because Dad has a heart condition and some other issues and frequent dr. visits can be expensive. Dad receives retirement, but, due to some bad finances, all his retirement goes to pay the bills.
She's applied to lots of places, has sent resumes out, had interviews, but nothing has panned out. As you can see, I've even networked for her, and we use every on-line site available. She's so depressed and feels so worthless, as you can well imagine, so I called her doctor and made her go - he was able to help with some medication.
The thing that really ticks me off is that people either don't respond to her resumes or after the interviews, don't call - just rude.
So, to make a long story short, if anyone knows of a receptionist position available in Essex, Middle River, Dundalk, White Marsh, Towson, Pikesville or downtown Baltimore, let me know. As I said, she has a lot of receptionist/customer service experience, types 45 wpm, has experience with Word, Lotus Notes, some other programs, and is experienced with multi-line phone systems.
Thanks for letting me vent and trying to help my Mom, who is the greatest Mom ever and my personal, built-in support group!
BY THE WAY, MY SURGERY IS TUESDAY, 8/2 @ GBMC WITH DR. VONRUEDEN! WOO-HOO! Mom has been great and will be spending the night with me. God, I love the woman!!!!
Hey Teresa-
First good luck with your surgery on Tuesday. I know Dr. Von Rueden as he and I have worked on the Morbid Obesity Task Force together. I found him to be very impressive and passionate both about his work and his patients. You will be in good hands.
Next since your mom has had experience working with insurance companies I know that MAMSI is always hiring folks. Here is a link to their employment website: http://www.mamsi.com/d/am/careers/index.jsp
Good luck to your mom as well.
