get started in a support group
Hi everyone,
I had WLS Oct. 7, and doing great. Don't regret a minute of the whole experience. However, my sweet husband had his done Jan. 31, lost 50 pounds so far, and having a few problems, (ie: hernia, constipation, etc.).
He's told me he really regets doing it. Can anyone steer him(us) to a local support group? We live in Silver Spring, (lower Montgomery County).
Any help, would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you so so much,
God Bless You ALL,
Sally (and Bob)

Sally and Bob,
You've got several options in Montgomery County:
Dr. Greene has support group meetings on the 2nd Monday and 4th Sunday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Rockville area. They're open to patients from all surgeons w/o charge; no appointment is needed.
The 2nd Monday meetings are at Temple Beth Ami on Travilah Road (off Darnestown Road, near Shady Grove Road). The 4th Sunday meetings -- including this coming Sunday, July 24 -- are at the Weinschel Education Center of Shady Grove Adventist Hospital. Specific information about the meetings, and scheduled post-op discussion topics are listed at www.AdvancedWLS.com. Please come! Many of us often go out for dinner after the meeting at nearby (low carb) venues.
There's also support group meetings every second and fourth Wednesday of the month (EXCEPT July 27) for the Holy Cross Bariatric Program (but not limited to Holy Cross patients) at 6:30 p.m at:
The Margaret Schwenhaut Senior Center
1000 Forest Glen Road
Silver Spring, Maryland 20901
Directions: From Holy Cross Hospital continue east on Forest Glen Road, cross over Sligo Creek Parkway (Go through the traffic light) continue past Silver Spring, Boys Club, and the Recreation Department. The Margaret Schwenhaut Senior Center is on the right.
