Okay so I knew it was coming. I started loosing my hair about 2 weeks ago and I'm in my 3rd month. I hear it will continue through month 6. My hair is normally VERY thick...but I am loosing clumps at a time. I am starting to notice a huge difference only after 2 weeks! HUGE difference. I take all my vitamins. Does anyone have any suggestions. I eat as much protien as I can.. Not sure what else to do.. I'll take any and all suggestions.. Ciao for now.. Diana

I take GNC's Hair, Skin, and Nails formula because it contains Biotin. Two pills provide 5000 mcg of Biotin per day. Also try Nexuss products with Biotin. They help but there is nothing you can do about the hair loss. I've cut mine and it still looks pretty bad. Good Luck. Angie S.

I'm sorry, I don't have an answer for you. While we're on the subject, though, is there anything that can be done prior to surgery to minimize the hair loss? Should I load up on those hair vitamins or start using shampoo with Minoxidil or whatever in it? My hair is not thick at all. :/

Diana Hi, I never lost what I call "clumps" but I would say I had a good amount of shedding - more than normal I added Zinc to my vitamins. I think 30mg or so and I still take daily.... of course keep my protein up, etc.... no more shedding.... Best wishes! Lisa

I am 15 months out, and am just starting to get over my hair issues...I had long(ish) very thick coarse hair,...my hair started falling out at the 3 months timeframe and continued until about the 8-9 month....I had stopped up every sink and shower in the house.... I used a lint roller on my pillow in the morning because the hair was so GROSS...it was all over my pillow....the bathroom floor was covered....looked like we had an incredibly long haired shedding beast in the house... no idea how to stop it... I was disrupted half-way through my post... I got in all my protein, vitamins, including biotin....I recently cut my hair short to help it grow in because it was looking so bad... It will stop....it seems to have to run a course.... best wishes, RAE

Hi Diana. Like yourself I started with a full think head of hair. I started losing it about 3 months post op and continued up till about 8, maybe even close to 9. I maintained the loss by taking Biotin pills - got them at the Vitamin shoppe for 9 bucks, increased my protein (this is the very most important) also Redkin puts out a product it is called CAT. CAT is a protein spray for your hair. It is about 13 bucks a bottle for the public, you use it every time you wash your hair simply spray it in, let it sit for a few minutes then rinse. I also notice that you are a blonde - being a little nosey here...I too was a blonde and decided to go darker so that I could get away with coloring it less' frequently which ultimately is less damage being done to your hair. Although I lost a significant amount of hair it is starting to grow back. It is NOT thin enough for a wig, in fact as a hair dresser myself I would say that I now have a "normal" amount of hair per the average person. Good Luck! Patty 7/9/04 279/150 - trying to maintain
