words do hurt

I tore the ACL out of my right knee 2 years ago and had surgery. The doctor said that if he could get a screw in it without cutting he would. Well all he did was to clean out the knee. They asked me before surgery if I would like a nerve block to stop the pain,I said of course. In recovery, I told the nurse that I could not feel my leg. She said "you will be okay honey just got ahead and get dressed". I went to stand up and fell flat on my face, and something ripped up the back of my leg. They said that I would be okay and packed me into my husbands truck to go home. I got out of the truck and fell onto the front lawn and sat there for a couple of hours until I could get help. To make a long story short. I have returned to work but can barely make it through the day. So today I went to Maryland's State Comission with my lawyer to testify how my leg is doing. He sat there and told them that the reason that I did not have my ACL fixed at the beginning was because of my obesity! He not only stated that once but twice! How hurtful can one person be to another. Did he tell them that I had gastric bypass surgery and have lost 33 pounds since May. NO! I told him this before we entered the courtroom. All the other guy kept asking me if I use my cane to walk all the time? How many tips have you put on the cane. How long have you been using the cane. Anyway, thanks for listening! I needed to get this off my chest to someone who could understand where I was coming from. Pat

Pat I am so sorry for all your problems. I know exectly how you feel as I am also MO. I had a Dr tell me that because my arms were sooo big that I could not have surgery on my wrist. I would have to lose weight or suffer. I have not gone back to him and by the way my wrist is better so I am glad I didn't have the surgery!!!

So sorry you are going through this aggrivation Pat. Congrats on your weight loss!! 33lbs... amazing job!! Are you able to go back and get a revision procedure on the ACL? You should not have to suffer in pain! I'm sure the weight loss will make a big difference too. If you are considering a new surgeon you might want to check out Dr. Thomas V. Whitten @ Mercy Medical Center. He is head of General Orthopedics and has a good rep. I hear University of MD also has a really good Orthopedics program. Good Luck!
