Dr. Gandsas patients?
Anyone have gastric bypass with Dr. Gandsas lately, or receive approval for pending surgery with him? What was your experience? I've had my consult and he seems great. I have BCBS of Delaware because my employer is headquartered in DE although I live in MD, and he told me they are a little sticky about approving WLS. That makes me really nervous! After researching for two years, I've finally made the decision to take the plunge, and now I'm worried that I won't be approved. BMI is 44 and co-morbidity of sleep apnea. Whadaya think?
Mike, thanks for the encouragement. I already have a pretty high confidence in Dr. G and staff, but it's nice to hear it straight from someone who's been there!
I read your profile and wanted to tell you I, too, have geographic tongue - have had it since my teens. It was first identified by my dentist, and he told me it is forever, and it can be initiated by a shortage of the B vitamins. I am not even conscious of it for the most part, but I don't stick my tongue out at people anymore (at age 57, I probably shouldn't do that anyway).
Some foods irritate it because my tongue has a lot of crevaces in it - almost like it's been chopped. One example is pineapple - that really irritates the tongue. Anyway, I thought you might appreciate hearing from someone who has been there with that! Thanks again for the support!
Hi Barbara - again, I'm another huge fan and testimony to Dr. Gandsas' awesome work...but I haven't heard anything about that type of insurance. I had BC/BS Federal Employees Program and everything went extremely smooth. Good luck to you...if your insurance will cover it...you're in the best hands...in my opinion!!
Blessings,
Jennifer
