WELL ITS OFFICIAL I SAW DR. KLIGMAN AND MARY THE DIETICIAN TODAY FOR MY 3 MONTH POSTOP AND AS OF NOW WE ARE DOWN A WHOPPING 178 LBS IN 3 MONTHS DR K SAID AT THE CURRENT RATE IM TARGETING ANYWHERE BETWEEN 240-260 AS A GOAL, AT 6'3" THAT IS FINE WITH ME. I JUST CANT BELIEVE THE THINGS I NEVER REALIZED OR FORGOT THAT I COULD DO WHEN I WAS THIN . ITS THE SMALL THINGS LIKE BEING ABLE TO BEND OVER AND TIE YOUR SHOES OR DRIVE WITH THE CAR SEAT UPRIGHT. IVE GONE FROM SIZE 8X CLOTHES TO XL ALREADY. NOW I REALLY NEED TO INCREASE MY WORKOUTS EVEN MORE SO IM INCREASING THE GYM INTENSITY EVEN MORE AS WELL AS STARTING TO TRAIN IN MARTIAL ARTS I JUST CANT BELIEVE WHAT A DIFFERENCE THIS HAS MADE AND ITS ONLY GOING TO GET BETTER.

Wow!! Thats awesome Steve ! Woo-hoo! Congrats. Keep up the good work. How much exercise have you been doing to lose all that weight so quickly ? ( I know that men tend to lose weight faster than women) Melanie

Excellent news! I started Karate about 2 years ago. Not sure what you weigh now, but it is definitely possible to do karate even if you are overweight... and it will DEFINITELY knock off the pounds. Alas, even with Karate in the mix and having lost a ton, I managed to go back on the upswing and now I'm bigger than when I started. My uniform barely fits and my sensai has also taken to doing harder calesthentics and these weird yoga exercises, so I was having a hard time keeping up. The class averaged 30+ and above in age when I first started, and now it probably averages 20+... so I think my sensai knocked up the level of intensity a little bit. Seems like each time I am 'sitting out' more and more and relegated to teaching white belts more and more when I have way too much to learn myself. (I'm just a yellow.) I decided to take a hiatus and am going back to Curves... probably until post-op. I cannot wait to go back to karate. I especially cannot wait to see what I am capable of after I lose a significant amount of weight. I've seen 40-80 year olds in fantastic shape who perform incredibly.

Steve, UNBELIEVABLE!!! Congratulations on your loss. It's a new lease on life, enjoy. I'm now down 91 lbs at 3.5 months and loving life. Keep us updated, and just wanted to let you know that I would still love to get a OH camping trip up and running for this summer. Have a good one! TraciL

I'd be happy to lose 100 lbs in 3 months. According to all the research I have read, the higher your starting BMI, the more weight you lose at a faster rate. Since my BMI is 53.2, I hope that happens with me! (assuming the person follows their prescribed diet and exercise regimen)
