Well, I've made it through the first two weeks. The first week was rough and the second week much better. I'm down 20 pounds!!!! I walk a mile everyday and I can finally get in and out of my own bed. I'm loving the strawberry/orange/banana Crystal light and lemonade Crystal light. I'm loving the refried beans. I'm not hungry. I have to force myself to eat and most things just turn my stomach to look at or smell. I really need some ideas for this mushy/soft food stage. I do NOT want to see applesauce, cottage cheese or egg beaters EVER again. Any ideas??? Pam

I have a book here called "Before and After" by Susan Maria Leach. I got it at Barnes & Noble @ Bowie Town Center, and I've seen ads for it on this site occasionally. You can also get it on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0060567228/qid=1118797217/sr=2-1/ref=pd_bbs_b_2_1/103-0390242-2936636 There is a section dedicated to "soups, purees, and other soft foods". I shall show you some of the more interesting recipe titles, though I'm pre-op and can't vouch for the taste or affect. The author apparently specializes in cuisine for all manners and phases of WLS post-ops. As a pre-op, I do recommend the book and out of respect I'm not going to go into details on ingredients, amounts, and prep. * Stracciatella (Whut?) - "Soothing first food when you first return home from the hospital. Make the homemade chicken stock base and canned soup will never taste the same again." --- chicken stock, egg, greated parmesan, chopped parsley, nutmeg, kosher salt, fresh ground pepper. Interesting. (Ok, I made an exception here on ingredients, cuz I've never personally heard of it!) * Cream of potato soup. * French onion soup. * Hummus * Shrimp Salad Spread * Curried Chicken and Almond Spread Yum. I definitely plan to try this one. * Salmon Salad * Turkey Tomato Ragu * Vanilla Egg Custard * Green Chile Cheese Puff w/ Roasted Tomato Salsa Not in the book, but I've heard mentioned many times, is egg-drop soup. I love that stuff!

Thanks, Vicky! I'm gonna get that book! I need all the help I can get. I tried tomato soup today and it made me feel sick for a few hours. I think there was too much sugar in it. Yogurt made me feel sick too. Looks like anything that has more than 6 grams of sugar makes me feel sick. I suppose that's a good thing. On another note, I have heard great things about Dr. Kligman. I think you will be in great hands. Take care, Pam
