Juanita hi, I got a date first and then went thru the testing and then my insurance company approved me with the first submittal in about 3 days. Your date probably will be soon if you have everything completed and the doctor has early available dates. Best of luck and keep us updated on your progress. Be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. pat

I know all doctors offices are different, but for me, when the office submitted my paperwork I was told approximately how long the insurance company would take to approve the surgery (the time from is different with each insurance company). I had Tricare and Tricare said by 10 days after they received the paperwork they would make a decision. When the paperwork is submitted to the insurance companies, the office is apparently required to give a "tentative" date of surgery. For my doctor (Dr. Averbach), this was not the "real" date, but just an idea of when it would be performed. They cannot schedule the real date until everything is approved from the insurance company. After the doctor's office received the approval, my "real" date was scheduled, and I believe it was within 1 or 2 days from hearing from the insurance company that I got my date. It depends on how busy the doctor's schedule is as to how quickly it can be scheduled. Mine was scheduled for less than 1 month later, but sometimes my doctor is booked for a few months. You should ask the person at your surgeon's office that does the insurance submittal and surgery scheduling what the usual timeframe is for that particular doctor. I asked MANY many of these types of questions and the office staff were more than happy to answer everything I asked. They were and have been very friendly and nonjudgmental about every little question. Good luck to you! SueZ

When I submitted all my paperwork into my doctors office and they sent it into the insurance company, they requested a surgery date then. I got my approval within 10 days. My doctors office asked me if that surgery date was okay with me and of course I said FINE! Had surgery on May 20th and doing okay! Good Luck! Pat
