Hey, drains??

Just thought I'd ask. My surgeon, Dr. Greene, hasn't mentioned anything yet about a drain. Not that it would bother me, but can anyone out there who is a patient of Dr. Greene let me know if he uses one with a Lap RNY proceedure? I'm just curious as my surgery is in 16 days and I want to make sure I'm fully prepared!!

Blanche, I had my Lap RNY w/Dr. Greene in July 2003, and from what I'd been hearing at that time, he'd stopped using drains long before that time. I'm active with Dr. Greene's post-op group, and have not heard of anyone, at least since my surgery, who has gone home with any drains. I only had to deal with them in connection with my plastic surgery last January. Good luck with your upcoming surgery. Leesa

Thanks Leesa... I kinda hoped you would be the one to answer my post. I would have emailed you directly, but couldn't remember your name at the time!!!! Thanks so much for your support!!!! Blanche

Blanche, I'm glad I could help. You may also want to consider joining two of the Yahoo-based online chat/support groups where you're likely to find more input from Dr. Greene's patients. The larger of the two is at: (http://)health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RouxNY/ and then there's a post-op group (although many of Dr. Greene's patients use the RouxNY group as well): (http://)health.groups.yahoo.com/group/Greene_Postops/ Leesa
