Did you check your benefit plan summary? I thought they covered it!

Most insurances cover VSG as long as your bmi is 50 or more. Call your surgeon to get the cpt code then call the insurance company with that code instead of saying VSG

So if I do all of my paper work and submit for approval...will the possibly cover the surgery if its not a covered benefit on my health insurance?

I'm not sure any of us can answer questions about YOUR insurance but your insurance company can.  Just call them up and ask them about weight loss surgery and what is covered.  The number should be on your card.
